Bessa Simons, the President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has advocated for the reinstatement of music education at the pre-SSS level, emphasizing its vital role in nurturing talents and providing invaluable pedagogical benefits.
Simons voiced this proposal during a meeting convened between a MUSIGA delegation and the Minister of Education, Honorable Dr. Yaw Adutwum. He underscored the importance of integrating music education into early learning curricula as a means to foster talent development.
The primary agenda of the meeting centered around the relocation of MUSIGA from its former premises, which were demolished as part of the preparations for the Marine Drive project.
Expressing gratitude for the initiative, Minister Adutwum assured the MUSIGA delegation that their concerns regarding the permanent relocation would be thoroughly addressed and resolved.
Furthermore, Minister Adutwum provided updates on the progress of the Creative Arts Senior Secondary School in Kumasi, highlighting that construction was advancing steadily and that the institution is slated to open its doors in September.
Accompanying Bessa Simons in the MUSIGA delegation were key figures including General Secretary Kofi Agyemang, renowned Greater Accra Regional Chairperson Elizabeth Tagoe of Tagoe Sisters fame, Director of Communications and Special Projects Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, and Protocol Officer Nana Amponsah.
