(Audio): Your Lithium deal is illegal until it is rectified by parliament – Minority tells gov’t

The Minority in Parliament has described the lithium deal agreement between the government and Barari DV Ghana Limited as illegal until it is rectified by the parliament of Ghana.
According to the minority, anything about the deal is not known to the representatives of the people in the August house.


Speaking in a press conference in parliament, the Ranking Member of the Mines and Energy Committee, Hon John Abdulai Jinapor said article 268 of the 1992 constitution explicit that any transaction of the country must pass through the parliament of Ghana before its approval.
He made it loud and clear that, the agreement between the two should be laid before parliament without delay.


According to him, the minority is assuring the people of Ghana that, they will scrutinize the deal and come out with the best deal that will benefit all the people of Ghana and the country at large.


“We will not let you down, that is the assurance from the minority to Ghanaians”, he added.


He indicated that the minority will engage stakeholders including the former chief justice Sophia Akuffo to get it better for us all.
