The National Peace Council has expressed great concern over recent clashes in parts of the country particularly, in Kintampo, Oti and Wenchi in the North East Region.
The council has also appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and security Agencies to strengthen and investigate to assure the affected families of speedy justice.
The call by the National Peace Council comes in the wake of Tuesday’s clashes at Nkwanta South in the Oti Region accounted eight persons dead.
The Ministry of Interior has announced a ban on the carrying of weapons and ammunition in and around the region coupled with a curfew from 5pm to 6am each day to restrict movement of residents in the area.
As it stands now, there is a heavy security presence in Nkwanta South in the Oti Region. The Regional Minister Joshua Makubu who said two people have been arrested.
Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Alban Kingsford Sumina Bagbin has summoned Ministers in charge of security related matters to a crucial meeting with the defense and interior committees of the house regarding the clashes in Kintampo.
This is after the Member of Parliament for Kintampo Joseph Kumah made a passionate appeal on the floor of Parliament for urgent help to resolve the tensions.
