The Member of Parliament for Kintampo North, Joseph Kumah has called on parliament to intervene in some ethnic feud emerging from his constituency.
He indicated that, this is a matter that require urgent concern since it can disrupt the peace of the constituency.
In a statement on the floor of Parliament, Wednesday, November 22, he recounted two (2) ethnic groups are on the verge of violent clashes.
The Chief of the Mole ethnic group and the leaders of Wangara tribe are in a turmoil over who to perform sacred rituals relating to the spiritual rituals of the community issue.
Speaking in an interview Thursday, November 23, 2023 on ‘Adekye Mu Nsem’, the Kintampo law maker indicated that, he is doing everything possible to ensure there is peace hence the involvement with the Peace Council.
“I’ve made it known in parliament, Kintampo is Ghana because it is the center of the country, when something happens we will all be affected”, he said.
He added, “As we talk now, there is calm, the police and the national security are on grounds”.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has summoned Ministers in charge of security related matters to a meeting with the defense and interior committee.
