A certified nutritionist, Paul Akapanga has debunked the notion of only light foods like, tea, porridge, coffee and others are suppose to be eating for breakfast is untrue. He said the choice of one’s breakfast is wholely dependent on the activities one intends to carry out during the day.
He noted that, activities that demand more physical exercise such as masonry or carpentry work and others requires that one eat heavy food while those that require less energy can be performed effectively when one eats light foods.
For him, carbohydrates rich food like fufu, banku, Tuo zaafi and others are ideal for breakfast since people require energy to carry out the day’s physically demanding activities.
“Having your fufu, waakye, Gari and beans, Ampesi and other heavy meals for breakfast is not bad. Naturally, it is expected that since you are starting the day, you should fill up. But then you need enough energy, get enough body building foods because as you are working, there will be some wear and tear and some cells dying as you are working so you need to replace them”
Mr. Akapanga added that eating light foods and engaging in energy sapping work can have dire consequences on you.
