We have squad to participate in AFCON but not to win the trophy- Ex Black Stars Player

Former Ghana Black Stars player Charles Kwaku Asampong Taylor has expressed that the current black stars have the squad to participate in the AFCON but not squad to win the ultimate.

In an interview on Ahotor Agorokensie on Ahotor fm ,Charles Taylor emphasized that Ghana has the squad to participate in the African cup of Nations tournament but doesn’t have the requisite squad to win the tournament as compared to other countries.

“We have the squad to participate in AFCON, we can assemble Under-20 ,Under-17 to participate in the tournament but winning the Ultimate, we have to forget it .Sometimes its not all about the players but the coaches who handles the teams gives hope to the players that they must win Sometimes, considering the current coach of the Black Stars even if you bring in Cristiano Ronaldo or Leo Messi , they will struggle to score because of his pattern of play. There is no future for the team hoping to win any trophy under him.”

The Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has released his squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Comoros and Madagascar.
