The Public Relations Officer of Rent Control Mr. Emmanuel Hovi Sosu has admonished tenants not to be in a rush in paying two or three years for rent.
According to him, the laws prevent Landlords from demanding more than six months of rent from someone renting an apartment.
He reiterated that if you as the person to be the occupant make such a proposal to the landlord then, they have no cause to be blamed.
Mr. Hovi Sosu said on apartment renovation too, if the landlord does the renovation while you the tenant is occupying, then the landlord can effect increment of the rent to you the occupant but if you the (tenant) wanted to do the renovation, then you will need a written consent from the landlord before you can go ahead.
