Professor Kobby Mensah of the University of Ghana Business School and a Political Marketer specialist has stated that the leading member Alan Kwadwo Kremanten’s resignation from the New Patriotic Party is very timely, which he thinks fits into its agenda to contest the presidential election as an independent candidate.
He opined that, though is likely National Democratic Congress can win the 2024 presidential elections this he said, this has to do with the campaign for change with the reality of the hard economic situation in the country.
He is of the view that, dynamics with the new media have brought change, and going forward his decision can well be tested with his campaign strategy, since he is going to work with; more especially from his first public statement he desires to reach the first time voters with his vision and plan to lead the country.
The Political Marketer, Proff. Mensah disclosed this on Adeye Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor FM in Accra. He reiterated that going by the tenets of the constitution he has the right to contest, and going by the political disagreement within the ranks and file of the party after the special delegates congress, in my opinion, he has taken the right decision.
He further stated that going forward, the New Patriotic Party as a corporate entity is going to pay for it in mobilisation of the party support base and strategy to adopt at the grassroots level.
He further stated that going with the 2024 campaign for the president, we must be reminded of the NPP as the party is going to fight with Alan with new voters, floating voters, and the supporting base of the party. He said the effects of his resignation are likely going to affect the votes of the NPP.
Speaking on the same platform on Adekye Mu Nsem morning show, the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Opare Addo, said the right to demonstrate has nothing to do with any court injunction, he said the primary constitutional mandate is to give notice to the police to keep law and order.
He said the strategy adopted by the police with respect to court injunction is just a collaboration to serve their political masters at the presidency to discourage the citizens from exercising their democratic rights by using the courts to discourage the citizens of the country.
He further raises concerns that the primary role of the police in all demonstrations by the notice from the demonstrators is to protect them from any disorder and state properties. And the abuse of using the courts can never discourage citizens from any future demonstration.
