‘Parents are shepherds, not engineers’ – KKD to those distressing him and his transgender son

A well-known media personality in Ghana, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD), has received criticism and labeling as a ‘bad parent’ from some individuals due to his son’s affiliation with the transgender community and advocacy for LGBTQ rights.

KKD’s son, Kwaku Darkwah Kyei Darkwah, led a protest in the United Kingdom in support of LGBTQ rights, which has sparked significant reactions from Ghanaians.

Critics have not only criticized KKD’s parenting skills, which they believe led to his son’s change of sexuality but also condemned him for supporting values that go against Ghanaian culture.

However, KKD has responded to the backlash and condemnation by saying that parents are intended to guide their children, not engineer their lives.

KKD stated in a recent discussion on Power FM that it is not anyone’s business to tell him how to handle his son, and parents should act as shepherds, not engineers.

His son was seen wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, unbuttoned to reveal a pink bra, paired with jeans and a lady’s bag. With a megaphone, he demanded freedom and an end to criticism of the LGBTQ+ community, while others chanted along with him in unison in London

Kwaku Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah works as a sales executive and stylist for a major fashion brand.
