The founder of the Diaspora Progressive Movement in the USA, Dr. Lawrence Appiah, has lamented that mistakes made by the NPP led to their defeat at the Assin North by-election.
Speaking on the “YEPE HUNU show” with Nana Dogbe, Mr. Appiah listed some of the mistakes that led to the defeat.
He said, the first mistake was fielding a candidate from Hon Quayson’s hometown Assin Breku, who couldn’t vote for himself and therefore had no relationship with the voters.
“The NPP had little time to sell Charles Opoku and to make matters worse, he didn’t have a message. He was unable to talk throughout the campaign, not even on the last day” he said.
He also said another mistake the NPP did was that they spent all their time talking about court cases and the possibility of jailing Mr.Quayson.
“Every smart politician would attract sympathy votes for him. The President used his whole speech talking about it and ended up saying his own candidate was “useless” Who would vote for a useless candidate?” he said.
He finally said the whole planning of the by-election was done so poorly.
This caused Dr. Bawumia to ambush Alan Kyeremanteng when he was speaking on the stage.
