Former Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia has indicated that, there is a vicious rumor going around that people are thinking of changing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare after the Assin North by election.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Ahotor FM, the President of the Atta Mills Memorial Heritage said, the police were fantastic in both Kumawu and Assin North by-elections yet the NPP are criticizing them after the Assin North by-election.
According to him, the NPP should tell us which of their people got injured if they have any, but the NDC has a catalog of their people that got injured in Assin North including the National Youth Organizer and the Deputy Communication officer of the party.
“IGP warned both parties not to go with arms but still there were number of gunshots” he said.
He said it will be unfortunate to change the IGP should it be true as It will be sad.
Last week the New Patriotic Party (NPP) battled it out with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) for the vacant seat at Assin North in the Central Region. It turned out as usual to be a straight battle between the NPP and the NDC.
While the NDC went into battle in its full elements to convince the electorates to vote for James Gyakye Quayson, the NPP went into battle to celebrate a victory that was not yet won.
