Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike, a former flagbearer of the United Front Party ( UFP), has confirmed his departure from the UFP and now formed a new party called the Union Government.
Mr. Akwasi Addae Odike was a candidate during the 2012 general elections in Ghana. He was then the flagbearer for the United Front party (UFP). Out of 8 candidates in the 2012 Presidential election held, Odike was eighth with 0.08% of the total valid votes cast.
Mr.Odike was of the view that partisan politics has sent the country backward and recommended that the Union Government which he has proposed where everyone will be allowed to participate in the governance process, will help make the nation better.
Mr.Odike has also called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo not to swear in the new Chief Justice nominee, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo for saying a birth certificate does not make one a Ghanaian.
Speaking in an interview on “Simpieso” with Emmanuel Martey, Mr.Odike explained why she should not be sworn in. Stating that “There are 3 things that make one a citizen. Either by birth, by marriage, or naturalization. And if the Chief Justice nominee got confused over this, then she shouldn’t be sworn in because it is wrong and she got the fundamentals wrong. With what she said, seems like she has not been to any law school.” He reiterated!
He also explains the importance of the Ghana card compared to the passport and the driver’s license.
“the Ghana card has a unique number but the passport after it expired will not give u the same number on a renewal and the same with a driver’s license too but the Ghana card’s unique identity number is forever,” he said.
