The former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe has urged the Ghana Football Association to appoint Black Stars General Captain, Asamoah Gyan as the strikers’ coach in the Black stars technical team.
In an interview, Eric Bekoe emphasized that the inability of black star strikers to find the back of the net is that they need an expert to coach them.
“We need to appoint Asamoah Gyan as Black Stars Strikers’ coach to help solve our attacking problems,”
“He has attained a coaching license, and we need to make good use of him while he’s alive now.” – he added
Ghana has struggled with goals in the absence of Gyan in all competitions.
Out of the last 29 goals scored by the senior national team, only four have been netted by the centre forwards with the majority of goals coming from midfield.
The aforementioned data includes the two goals scored against Angola over two legs in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Gyan has obtained a UEFA B coaching licence and is expected to start his managerial career soon when he officially announces his retirement from professional football.
