Management of Asante Kotoko will decide on the future of Seydou Zerbo after their trip to Samreboi for the Ghana Premier League match-week 22 game next weekend according to local reports.
The Burkinabe trainer has been under pressure at Asante Kotoko following the club’s inconsistent results in the 2022/23 season’s campaign.
A section of the Asante Kotoko has called on the management to abrogate the contract of the 59-year-old after a 1-0 defeat to their bitterest-rival Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Zerbo, who joined Asante Kotoko on a one-year contract with an option of a year renewal in August last year, has recorded eight victories, seven drawn games and suffered five defeats in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors exited the FA Cup competition after slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Aduana Stars in the round of 16 in Dormaa last month.
That run and a series of poor performances and questionable personnel decisions have put Zerbo’s status as head coach in doubt for his possible sacking should he fail to pick a positive result against FC Samartex 1996 on Saturday.
The club’s management is unhappy with the repeated selection of some players at some positions which has raised eyebrows, while his line of substitutions in recent games has led to questions about whether the Burkinabe knows his team.
Asante Kotoko will be on road again in the Ghana Premier League to Samreboi in the Western Region to battle it out with the in-form Premier League newbies under coach Annor Walker.
Asante Kotoko currently occupies the fifth position on the Ghana Premier League log with 31 points after twenty games.
