(LISTEN): I am the right person to win the Tema West seat for NDC as I have what it takes – Wakefield Ackuaku

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opened nominations for its presidential and parliamentary elections.

The two-day exercise would herald the processes for the final leg of the party’s internal elections to elect presidential and parliamentary candidates for the NDC slated for May 13, 2023, to contest on the ticket of the party in the 2024 general election.

Aspiring parliamentary candidates would pick nomination forms at a cost of GH¢5000 while the presidential aspirants are required to pick nomination forms directly from the office of the General Secretary of the party and at a cost of GH¢30,000 via banker’s draft.

However, female aspirants and persons with physical disabilities would be required to pay only 50 per cent of the fee charged.

Among the various seats up for grabs, the Tema West seat will be hotly contested as the NDC seeks to win that seat for the first time since 1996.

Appearing as a guest on Ahotor 92.3 Fm’s Morning Show ‘Ade Kyi Mu Nsem‘ on Thursday 23rd February,2023, Tema West Constituency NDC Parliamentary Aspirant Mr. Wakefield Ackuaku said he is the right person to win the Tema West seat for the NDC as he has what it takes to win that seat.

He said the NDC winning the 2024 elections is his main aim and goal as he is a team player.

Using the 2019 primaries as an example, he said even after he lost to the 2020 parliamentary candidate in the primaries, he still supported Dr. Raphael Tuffuor in the 2020 campaign so that backs the fact that he is a team player.

Mr. Ackuaku said as the NPP was able to win a seat in the Volta Region, the NDC should work harder to win the Tema West seat for the first time since 1996 and he is the right man for that task.

Replying to a question by Citizen Kofi Owusu that if he is anti-Mahama for being close with Dr. Kwabena Tuffour, Mr. Ackuaku said he is not anti-Mahama and the NDC needs peace and a united front to win the 2024 elections and such comments are not necessary.
