Former Ghana U20 striker Emmanuel Boateng has made a return to the Portuguese league to rejoin Rio Ave.
The 26-year-old who featured for Chinese side Dalian Professional FC – where 14 goals in 41 games for the side – in the previous season penned a two-year deal with the Green and White lads.
In 2014, at the time of his first spell at the Club, Boateng was signed into the youth squad but soon came to the fore and after two games for the Under-19s, he conquered his space in their main team, being widely used and influential at a time when Rio Ave FC played in the group stage of the Europa League.
He featured in 28 matches for the Club’s main team, nine of which were in the Europa League.
Boateng has already undergone medical examinations and started training Wednesday for the first time with his new teammates.
The versatile striker has also played for Moreirense, Levante (Spain) and Dalian Pro (China).
He is expected to make an appearance for Rio Ave when they take on G.D. Estoril Praia in the Portuguese top-flight league fixture on Friday
He has been capped seven times for the Black Stars of Ghana with a goal to his credit
