Management of Asante Kotoko has announced that the club is heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) following the suspension of Richmond Lamptey.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) handed a 30-month to Richmond Lamptey for his involvement in the Inter Allies and AshantiGold match-fixing scandal.
The club’s official statement reads “Management this morning has directed our legal team to begin processes at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in respect of Richmond Lamptey’s appeal.”
Ghana Premier League sides Ashanti Gold and Inter Allies were found guilty of engaging in a match-fixing of a game which ended 7-0 in favour of AshantiGold during the 2020/21 season.
The match ended 7-0 for the home side but the main issue that took centre stage after the game has to do with Inter Allies defender Hashmin Musah who was subbed on to intentionally score deliberate own goals to spoil the supposed bets which were staked.
Officials and Players of the two clubs were handed hefty fines and banned by the Ghana Football Association.
The Ghana Football Association opened an investigation on the matter last year where they invited officials and players of both teams for interrogations and came out with this ruling after concluding their findings.
