A WRAP – Stephen Ntim , JFK emerged Victors , John Boadu lost, at NPP National Conference.

A five time failed Chairman contender has won the 2022 National Chairman Position of the New Patriotic Party during the party’s National Delegates Conference held on Saturday 16th July and 17th 2022 at the Greater Accra Region in the Accra Sports Stadium

The event which began on Saturday and ended Sunday dawn in the Accra Sports Stadium saw about 6,500 delegates drawn from the 16 regions and 275 Constituencies across the country.

Issues of vote buying and delay of electoral kits by the Electoral Commission took centre stage of the polls.

Positions up for grap, included ;

  1. National Chairman & Vice Chairpersons
  2. National General Secretary
  3. National Organizer
  4. National Women’s Organiser
  5. National Youth Organiser
  6. National Nasara Coordinator

The new patriotic party, held the conference at a time when the subject of IMF has dominated national discourse amid high rate of inflation and agitations by labour organisations in the country.

President Akufo Addo in a speech delivered at National Delegate Conference on Saturday admitted challenges in the country and applauded the various teacher Unions who embarked on indefinite strike for accepting to take 15% of cost of living Allowance, COLA , which initial demands stood at a whooping 20%.

Various Political parties were present at the ceremony to solidarized with the NPP as a tradition within the body politics of the country as in event of such nature

Vice President Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, Chief of staff Akosua Frema Opare, 137 MPs of the party as well as diplomatic corps were present to grace the event.

The NDC was represented by A Deputy General Secretary Peter Boamah Otukonor, Map for Ningo Prampram , Samuel George Nartey, as well as other members of the party.

Mr. Otukonor used the occasion to re echoed hardships in the country in a message he delivered and advised President Nana Addo and the incoming National executives to do what ever it takes to alleviate Ghanaians from the such economic mess.

After 2 days of fiercely contested polls in the NPP. Mr. Stephen Ayensu Ntim has been elected as the new National Chairman of the NPP. And he takes over from the outgoing National Chairman, Mr. Freddie Blay , who served for a period of two terms.

The general Secretary position of the party also went to Justin Frimpong Kodua.

The incumbent General Secretary, John Boadu lost the Elections in a surprise swing.
