English Premier League champions Manchester City have announced the contract termination of Mohammed Aminu after an uninspiring performance since his acquisition four years ago.
Manchester City acquired the signature of a 21-year-old winger in a five-year deal worth €1.8million from the Ghana Premier League side West African Football Academy in 2018.
Aminu was initially loaned out to the U21 side of Dutch club NAC Breda for a short stint before joining FC Dordrecht but his loan spell was cut short due to indiscipline issues.
In 2020, English Premier League heavyweights opted to farm the Mohammed Aminu to Belgian second-tier outfit Lommel SK — a feeder club of Manchester City — on a 24-month loan deal but he failed to make a single appearance.
Aminu was among the list of players released by Manchester City ahead of their 2022/23 season campaign.
Aminu was a member of the Ghana U17 squad that played in the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup held in India.
The Kumasi-born was once touted by most football pundits as the next big star in world football after Manchester City had splashed €1.8million to sign him from WAFA after the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup.
