You can’t use Ghana’s money to fulfill your personal promise to God – Tain MP tells Akufo-Addo

Member of Parliament for Tain Constituency in the Bono Region Hon.Sulemana Adama Ramzy says President Akufo-Addo can’t use Ghana’s money to fulfill his personal promise made to God.

President Akufo-Addo made a promise to God to build a National Cathedral in His name if he wins the 2016 elections.

As part of efforts to redeem the promise, the government has demolished the houses of judges located on the proposed site for the construction of the National Cathedral at Ridge in Accra.

The 5,000-seater auditorium Cathedral project would also bequeath to the country a gracious national park for all Ghanaians, bring new skills, technology and jobs to the country, and would act as a beacon to national, regional and international tourists.

The Cathedral is expected to be officially opened on March 6, 2024, and it is the hope of the President that it would be materialised.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, signed a letter addressed to the Controller and Account General, directing that a seed money of GH₵25,000,000 be credited to the accounts of Ribade Limited as part of the payment for the project which has raised a lot of questions in the country.

Reacting to this on Ahotor Fm’s afternoon News, Hon. Adama lamented that the timing of the GH₵25,000,000 is worrying.

The legislator said the school feeding programme is currently suffering because there is no money and the GH₵25,000,000 seed money released for the building of the Cathedral could be used for the school feeding.

Hon. Sulemana Adama called on President Akufo-Addo to work with the laws of Ghana.

“Akufo-Addo has got his priorities wrong and he is not working with the laws of the country” He said.

“The country is in debt, capitation grant is suffering, nothing is working in the country but the priority of the President is to build a National Cathedral? Hon. Adama questioned.

He further stated that God Himself will not be happy with the National Cathedral as the citizens of the country are not happy about it as they are hungry.

He urged the President to read Proverbs 21:3 as God has a message for him with that bible verse.
