Students loan should be reintroduced to our Universities – Daniel Fenyi

An educationist, Daniel Fenyi has asked the government to reintroduce students loan to cushion needy students in our Universities

According to him, students have not been able to access these loans for 3years now and one is forced to wonder whether the Students Loan Trust Fund is still in operation

His comments came following the news on Wednesday April, 20 that 6000 students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have been asked to defer their courses due to their inability to pay their fees

Mr Fenyi speaking to Ahotor newsroom indicated, that the management should be considerate looking at the current economic difficulties in the country

He urged management of the school to put in place alternative ways to deal with the situation instead of deferring them

Meanwhile, Aboah Michael, the SRC president of KNUST in an interview with the media said the SRC have engaged extensively with management and have put things in place to support students who are genuinely in need to meet the 70% threshold

Mr Aboah said, the general public should rubbish the rumor that indebted students have used their monies for betting

He said, it can not be the case that all 6000 students will use their fees for betting
