The Sierra Leone Government has invested 2.5 billion Leones (about $187,716) in the country’s men and women’s leagues.
The amount is meant to revive football in the West African country.
The men’s top-tier competition is ongoing and needs funds to be completed while the woman’s competition is yet to start after few years of dormancy.
“The 2.5 billion Leones is for both the Male and Female Leagues,” Sierra Leone’s Sports Minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh said.
“1 billion Leones for the completion of the second phase of the Male Premier League and the 1.5 billion Leones is for the start of the Female Premier League in either April or May,” he added.
Bo Rangers are top of the Sierra Leone Premier League with 45 points from 22 games.
Second-placed East End Lions are a point behind the leaders Rangers.
