Former Asante Kotoko captain and skipper of Black Meteors Yussif Chibsah has urged Kumasi Asante Kotoko board to look at football as a business and requires proper investment.
The former midfielder advised that until proper investment is done, the club can’t win big in Africa because the various clubs are investing hugely and Kotoko should do the same.
“Football has become a lucrative business,it involves a lot of money. Tp Mazembe and teams from Eastern part of Africa are currently on the rise due to the sort of investment they have made in the game”
“Until we pump money into the game,it will be difficult for us to compete with the North Africans, he said.
Although Asante Kotoko lost to Es Setif in the CAF Confederations Cup 1st leg in Accra, Chibsah was happy with their performance but claims it will be difficult to qualify ahead of the Algerian side.
“Kotoko played against a very matured, well experienced side with a top class manager, hence it wasn’t a surprise that we had that kind of results”.
“We need to encourage the team but it will be extremely difficult for Kotoko to eliminate Setif in Algeria”.
Kotoko will travel to Algeria for the second leg of the CAF Confederation cup after losing 2 – 1 to the Algerians on Valentine’s Day.
