Teachers in Tamale boycotts school over attack on headmaster

Some teachers in Tamale have boycotted school after attack on the Headmaster of the Nyohini JHS by some unknown macho men.

The teachers said they are boycotting school in solidarity with their colleagues and Headmaster who was assaulted by some heavily body built men last Thursday.

The Headmaster of the Nyohini JHS Rev. Lawrence Yiripari was surprised of the attack, and says he does not know why he was attacked.

“I don’t know how they even entered because before you enter the office, my teachers sit left and right under the mango tree with some at the first two blocks, I don’t know how they entered” He said

“When they entered, they asked who is the Headmaster, they quickly entered, held my smock and started slapping me without any reason” He added.

This urged the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools in Tamale to present a petition to the Metropolitan Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S) who suspects the recent mass transfer of teachers in the area must have caused it.

The Spokesperson for the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools in Tamale Bismarck Kojo Ampomah said they won’t be returning to school unless the perpetrators are brought before the law.

“We believe that is as the result of the mass transfer of teachers that must have caused this” He said

“We as the teacher union have decided we shall boycott schools till the perpetrators of this crime are brought to book” He added.
