FDA partners NBSSI for excellence

Head of Food and Industrial Support of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA)  Kofi Essel, has noted the weak link between the productivity of the Small and Medium Scale industries ( SMEs) and excellence, and their ability to meet standards in their finished products to meet international expectations.

According to Mr Essel, lots of the SMEs have brilliant ideas, but the support to bring them to international standards is lacking, thereby affecting these SMEs to meet their aim.

This he said, whittles the dreams of the SMEs and many a time, are not able to meet the lime lights.

The Food and Drugs Authority has therefore signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NSBBI) to provide support for the budding entrepreneurs.

Speaking on Ahotor 92.3fm news, Mr Essel noted that, after the financial support from the NBSSI, lots of the products of the SMEs fall below the standards expected of them, hence the need for the collaboration to ensure that, these SMEs are able to manufacture their products to meet standards from the scratch, and avoid frustrations which on many a time affects them.

He disclosed that, these SMEs have brilliant business ideas and the needed documentations, yet they are stuck when they present their products for certification.

He is optimistic that, the partnership with the NBSSI would afford the centre to become a one- stop- shop for every information needed, to enhance their business operations and standards.
