Ghanaian players stranded in Ethiopia call for gov’t intervention.

More than ten Ghanaian players have been left stranded in the East African country of Ethiopia and are calling for government intervention to bring them back home.

A lot of leagues have been terminated amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the Ethiopian league has not been spared either.

The country’s football governing body canceled the football season on 5th May and all football related activities have been halted as the country battles out the pandemic.

Some Ghanaian players are still locked down in Ethiopia and are eager to return home.

Former Black Stars and Berekum Chelsea defender Lee Addy also remains in the country after his move to Mekkelle Kenema couldn’t materialise due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Although not all the players are currently in the East African country, information gathered from some of the players says at least twenty one of them are currently in Addis Ababa waiting for government’s intervention to be  evacuated back home.

With lots of national borders still closed, the players are pleading on the Government of Ghana to come to their aid.

They are anxious to return home but all efforts have proved futile hence their call on government for repatriation.
