The NPP will bear the consequences should anything happen in the country as a result of the New voter registration exercise.
Hon. Kale Cezario
The Deputy Research Director of the NDC, Honorable Kale Cezario says the Electoral Commission (EC) has not given a convincing explanation for the compilation of a new voters’ register.
According to him, the EC needs to produce more convincing reasons why the compilation of a new voters’ register is needed as he is not sure the current register is bloated as the EC claims.
The former deputy Upper West Regional Minister bemoaned the fact that the 2020 polls is barely six months away and the EC is preparing to compile a new electoral roll amid the covid-19 pandemic and restrictions on movements and social gathering.
Hon Kale claims only the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and groups affiliated to it back EC’s decision for a new electoral roll and he think it’s needless and can bring political tension. He added that the registration exercise could facilitate the spread of the virus in the country.
The former Presidential staffer is of the view that, since the Electoral Commission is backed by the ruling party, the NPP will bear the consequences should anything happen in the country as a result of the New voter registration exercise.
He also indicated that there is a lot of agitation among Ghanaians due to hardships, the Covid-19 pandemic and a lack of basic amenities and now the frustration of going to queue for a new register will compound their anxiety.
Mr Kale was speaking on Asem Yi Dika on Ahotor FM with Emmanuel Martey (aka Alaska).
