Koforidua District Officer of Salvation Army Church Major Justice Inkoom, says they expect the government to do a fumigation exercise in all churches just as the market centers were fumigated for traders.
Following the covid-19 pandemic, the Minister of Local government and Rural development, Hajia Alima Mahama launched the exercise in Accra after consultation with the traders to fumigate the market centers, about 137 markets within the 29 metropolitan, municipal and district Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region, group into six (6)zones were covered in the exercise undertaken by some one thousands three hundred 1,300 sprayers.
Major in an interview on Ahotor FM morning show added that as part of the fight against the spread of the virus churches including the Salvation Army church have contributed massively to the covid-19 trust fund and this is the time the government has to do something for the church.
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday during his 10th address to the nation on measures taken against the spread of the corona virus stated that ” with effect from Friday 5th June, we will begin stage one of the process of easing restrictions, in addition to the mandatory wearing of masks for all persons at all times in church and mosques, a register of names and contact details of all worshippers and hand washing facilities and sanitizers must be provided with a maximum duration if one hour for each service. Religious institutions that are desirous of opening their premises to their members, such as churches, mosques and others must disinfect, fumigate and put in place their requisite logistics needed to guarantee safe opening and operation. They must work with the designated regulator bodies and undertake test runs of protocols I have out lines.”
Major added that every Member of Parliament should also take it upon themselves and fumigate churches in their constituency, inspite of this protocols outlined by the president his church still remain closed.
