Senior Political Analyst Dr Kwasi Amakye – Boateng, says, there is enough time to compil;e a new voter register if the need be.
With the necessary protocols put together by the Electoral Commission, it is possible to conduct a registration for a credible register, and if the EC is to start the compilation now, it wouldn’t be too late.
Dr Boateng in an interview on Ahotor 92.3 fm explained that many hot spots in the country is due to political misunderstanding on voter registration registration process, and this has lingered on since the first republic, not excluding the military era.
The Electoral Commission in a statement said ” The commission is sensitive to the current state of affairs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will abide by the necessary precautions and protocols in the execution of its mandate when it deems fit to appropriate and begin the compilation of the register.”
These precautions includes: mandatory wearing of face mask at the registration centers, checking of temperature before registration, washing of hands , one – meter gaps between persons lining up to register, sanitizing of scanners and sanitizing of hands after voting.

The Electoral Commission is yet to come out with a new date for the compilation of the new voters register.
He further on said the voters’ registration is in the interest of the Nation and not the political parties.
