Public Relations officer(PRO) of the Traditional Medicine Practice Council under the Ministry of Health, Numoo Blafo, has urged government to permit the use of traditional medicine to be tested for the fight against covid-19.
Numoo added that there are about 30 government hospitals with a traditional medicine department, and you have the option to choose traditional or orthodox medication
He said this in response to the Director General for Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye, to consider the Madagascar herbal for covid-19 into the country to fight the virus.
Madagascan President, Andry Rajoelina officially launched a medicine he believes can prevent and cure patients suffering from Covid-19
” All trials and test have been conducted and it’s effectiveness in reducing the elimination of symptoms had been proven for the treatment of patients with covid-19 in Madagascar.” the president said.
Developed by the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research and branded covid organics, it contains Artemisia, a plant cultivated on the big Island to fight against malaria.
He further said he will support the medicine because it from Africa but as Ghanaians we are to patronize made in Ghana goods.
” Why don’t the government try the traditional medicine here in the country if it doesn’t work then we try other country.” He said
‘When you visit a herbalist for treatment, what you will tell him about how you feel is what will aide the herbalist to know the kind of plant to mix to treat you
And with the symptoms of covid-19 there are plants that are mixed to cure sickness with such symptoms, so government should consider that and give them a chance to prove their worth.
“Advertisements on television and radio about herbal medicine keeps improving, if these producers of these medicines don’t get good results will they still waste time in advertising them.”he added
Unless we don’t want to patronize our own goods
He urged that, we should not, as a country always wait for another country to produce vaccine and have it tested on us, why don’t we try now so other countries will praise us for our good work.
