Ghana Premier League suspended indefinitely

The Ghana Football Association has suspended the Ghana Premier League untilĀ  30th June 2020, to decide on whether to cancel the league or continue due to the covid -19 pandemic which has brought all global sporting activities to abrupt halt amid restrictions on physical and social gatherings respectively.

Similarly, almost all sporting activities have been halted, and Ghana is not an exception.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) liaised with all regional associations to decide on the fate of league tourneys. Though some have responded by cancelling their scheduling, the likes of Ethiopia, Kenya, Guinea and Congolese leagues have been truncated as a result to their inability to complete the football season due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Ghana Football Association is yet to decide on the way forward of sporting disciplines in the country.

In the past week the Football Association engaged the clubs in a meeting but couldn’t finalise the decision on the league and will therefore be on hold until 30th June 2020 to determine the final decision, or otherwise and inform CAF accordingly.

The 2091-2020 Ghana Premier League started in December 2019 and was due to be completed in July 2020 with Aduana Stars Football Club emerging as league leaders on top of the league.

The national women’s league , division 1 and all regional leagues have all been put on hold
