Akotoklo Pupils Write on Rocks Due to Lack of Desks
Pupils of Akotoklo R/C Primary School in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region are forced to sit and write on rocks due to the lack of desks and a classroom as government remains adamant in attending to the plight of the school.
The pupils are either seen lying on their bellies or kneeling on their knees to write on the rocks or write on their laps.
Exams papers are intermittently blown away by the wind disrupting the examination process. Teaching and learning activities in the school have been conducted under a bamboo shed and mud classrooms which is at the mercy of the least storm.
On March 24, 2019, a heavy rainstorm floored the bamboo shed classrooms, displacing about 120 pupils weakening the others which have become death trap.
But in a sharp contrast, the school could boast of a good number of trained teachers within the district than any other.
