Who wins 2017 SWAG Sports Personality of the year?
The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) will award Ghanaian sportsmen at its 43rd Awards Night on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Accra International Conference Center in Accra.
Vying for the prestigious Footballer of the Year are Daniel Nii Adjei – (TP Mazembe, DRC), Thomas Teye Partey- (Atletico Madrid, Spain), Christian Atsu – (Newcastle, England) and Richard Boakye-Yiadom (Red Star Belgrade, Serbia).
This year’s event coincides with activities of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of SWAG which was founded in 1968.
According to the organizers of the event, the ASA Band and Kwabena Kwabena are going to provide music, but the surprise of the night should be the Sports Personality of the Year.
President of the Association, Kwabena Yeboah said it would be the surprise and highlight of the event.
The longest existing sports awards in the country is expected to attract over 800 guests, made up of sportsmen and women, administrators and well-wishers to celebrate sporting excellence and help honour Ghanaian sports heroes in 2017.
The SWAG Awards is the longest running sports event in Ghana and will confer honours on over 30 sportsmen and sportswomen, as well as corporate institutions for their role in the development and promotion of sports in Ghana.
