Mallam Latif who allegedly defrauded 4 persons of about GH¢81,000 under the guise of helping them retrieve a fortune buried by their grandparents will today appear before court after he was provisionally chargedfor defrauding by false pretense and dealing in counterfeit.
The suspect was arrested at Wassa Kwame Dikrom, a community near Wassa Akropong in the Wasa Amenfi East district of the Western Region.
He took the said amount from four of his victims claiming he could help them uncover gold buried in the earth by their grandparents indicating that the amount was meant to purchase some items needed for this spiritual exercise.
After receiving the amount however, Mallam Latif failed to fulfil his part of the bargain but gave them various denominations of fake currencies in US dollars, Euros, CFA and GH¢ amounting GH¢1,500,000.
After realizing they had been duped, the victims led by one John Opoku lodged a complaint with the police leading to the arrest of the suspect who will make his first appearance before court today, January 2, 2018.
