Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said his Party is confident of winning the December 7 Presidential elections and justified the delay in the declaration of results.
Addressing a press conference in on Accra on Thursday, Mr Nketiah said the NDC had a coalition centre which monitored and collated results from across the country which indicated victory for President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him the NDC as a law abiding part will not put out any figures contrary to the agreement reached at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee IPAC) level and the National Peace Council.
He warned political parties, especially the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to stampede the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare results outside the 72 hours agreement reached at the IPAC level.
The General Secretary condemned the NPP for organising press conference claiming victory and declaring their party as winners of the election as the EC is yet to declare the winner.
He said: “The NDC as a law abiding party, is asking its supporters to go about their duties, eat and drink and remain calm waiting for victory to be announced.
“It is now an early day yet to declare ourselves as winners of the election like the NPP did, but we know we are winning with the figures our coalition system is giving us,” he added.
