The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, has strongly urged the public to disregard allegations by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, intend to abolish the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
Addressing a vibrant rally in Tema Newtown following the successful “Rep Your Umbrella Walk” yesterday, Hon. Odamtten described these claims as baseless propaganda designed to mislead Ghanaians.
During his address, Hon. Odamtten reaffirmed John Mahama’s commitment to education, stating that the former president was the architect of the Progressive Free SHS policy during his tenure.
“John Mahama laid the foundation for accessible education, and his vision is to strengthen and expand it—not to cancel it. Let no one deceive you,” he emphasized to the cheering crowd.

The rally also served as a platform for the MP to highlight the NDC’s transformative policies aimed at tackling unemployment and boosting economic activity. One of the standout proposals he championed was the party’s 24-hour economy policy, which he described as a “game changer.
“The 24-hour economy policy is designed to revitalize our economy and create sustainable job opportunities for Ghanaians, especially the youth,” Hon. Odamtten stated.
He explained that the policy would harness the full potential of the nation’s resources by encouraging round-the-clock industrial operations, improving trade, and enhancing productivity in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, and services.
He called on the youth, who stand to benefit significantly from the policy, to rally behind the NDC and vote massively for the party in the upcoming elections.
According to him, the policy aligns with the party’s broader agenda of economic empowerment, poverty reduction, and inclusive development.
The “Rep Your Umbrella Walk,” which preceded the rally, saw a massive turnout of NDC supporters proudly showcasing the party’s colors and demonstrating their commitment to its ideals.
The event served not only as a political mobilization exercise but also as an opportunity to engage with the community and outline the party’s vision for a better Ghana.
