Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo Confident in NDC Victory, Highlights Party’s Momentum in Eastern Region – (AUDIO)

The immediate past National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has expressed strong confidence in the party’s prospects of winning the upcoming December 7th elections.

He attributes this optimism to the growing recognition among Ghanaians of the NDC’s superior economic management compared to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking at Osino during John Mahama’s #Mahama4Change2024 tour, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo emphasized that John Mahama and the NDC represent pragmatic leadership, in contrast to the alleged propaganda and falsehoods of the NPP.

“Ghanaians have compared the records of both parties and see that the NDC is the better manager of the economy,” he stated. “John Mahama stands for practical solutions, while the NPP relies on empty rhetoric and deception.”

Gains in the Eastern Region
Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo expressed particular confidence in the NDC’s increasing popularity in the Eastern Region, traditionally considered an NPP stronghold.

He highlighted the enthusiastic reception of John Mahama’s regional tour as evidence of the NDC’s growing support.

“Look at the massive crowds greeting John Mahama across the Eastern Region—it’s clear the tide is turning,” he said. “The NPP is losing ground, and the NDC is gaining momentum in this region.”

He predicted that the NDC would not only retain its existing parliamentary seats but also reclaim key constituencies such as Abuakwa North, Fanteakwa North, and Upper West Akyim. Furthermore, he identified Kade, Suhum, Nsawam, and New Juaben North as constituencies likely to swing in favor of the NDC.

Chiefs Endorse NDC Leadership
When asked about the endorsements of John Mahama by prominent chiefs in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo explained that the traditional leaders have scrutinized the NDC and NPP’s governance records and concluded that the NDC is the better choice.

“Our chiefs have seen the NDC’s track record in governance and are disappointed in President Akufo-Addo, who hails from the Eastern Region yet has failed to bring meaningful development to the area,” he said.

Criticism of the NPP’s Governance
Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo criticized the NPP for failing to improve the lives of Ghanaians, pointing specifically to the controversial Domestic Debt Exchange Program.

He labeled it “the most expensive barbering shop in the world,” saying it has caused countless Ghanaians to lose their investments and trust in the government.

Call for Vigilance
Addressing concerns about election security, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo warned against intimidation tactics and urged security agencies to remain professional and impartial.

“The NDC does not believe in vigilantism, and we expect security personnel to act fairly,” he declared. “I urge all NDC supporters to stay vigilant on election day. Do not leave the polling stations until the votes are counted. No one can intimidate the NDC.”

Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo concluded by reaffirming his confidence in the NDC’s chances, noting that the party’s messages and promises have resonated with Ghanaians and will translate into victory at the polls.
