Anti-LGBTQ bill: We are not scared because we have the support of many behind us – Sam George

The lead advocate for the anti-LGBTQ bill, Samuel Nartey George says he has massive support due to his advocacy against LGBTQI.

According to him, respected individual in society prayer incessantly for him to be resolute in his quest to protect Ghana’s cultural identity.

Speaking in a media interview, he said even people who do not belong to any political party have shown their support.

“Even people who do not belong to any political party are supporting us. We are receiving encouragement from various quarters” he said.

Sam George added that, the call for a demonstration against the Chief Justice over delays in the anti-LGBTQ case came from religious leaders.

Advocates of the bill have announced plans to protest against Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo on August 21, 2024, due to delays in transmitting the bill to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Supreme Court has postponed its ruling on the injunction applications filed by Dr. Amanda Odoi and broadcast journalist Richard Sky, which seek to halt the bill’s progress.

The court plans to deliver the ruling on the same day as the final judgment.

But the Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament stressed his determination despite the delays.

“Chiefs are calling to ask what’s next. We have fought many battles to get to where we are. The Chief Justice is not our battle. We are not scared because we know we carry the support of many behind us” he added.
