Former Black Stars captain André Ayew has defended his younger brother, Jordan Ayew, against the criticism he has received following Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
André believes Jordan made a significant contribution to Ghana’s qualification for the tournament, highlighting his goals and assists throughout the qualifying campaign.
“Jordan Ayew contributed about 60% to Ghana’s World Cup qualification. He scored seven goals and provided seven assists, yet he remains one of the most criticised players, both during and after the World Cup,” André said.
The former captain also pointed out that Jordan was the only member of the squad who returned to Ghana to face the criticism directed at the team after the tournament.
“He is also the only one who came back to Ghana to face all the criticism. Despite everything, Jordan remains strong,” he added.
Jordan played a key role in Ghana’s qualification campaign and has continued to attract intense scrutiny from supporters and critics, particularly over his performances for the Black Stars.
André’s comments are a strong defence of his brother, stressing that Jordan’s contribution to the national team should not be overlooked despite the criticism surrounding his performances.
