Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has expressed his strong desire to retain star forward Antoine Semenyo amid growing transfer speculation linking the Ghana international with a January move to several top Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

Speaking ahead of his side’s upcoming fixture, Iraola praised Semenyo’s professionalism and current form, noting that the 25-year-old remains fully focused despite the surrounding “noise.”
“Antoine Semenyo right now is with us. He’s playing very well,” Iraola said. He emphasized that the ongoing rumors have not impacted the player’s performances, adding, “My concern is that it doesn’t affect him, and we are seeing that it’s not affecting his performances. He is very committed to the team and I hope we can keep him there.”
Iraola went on to highlight Semenyo’s importance to the squad, describing his consistency as excellent since the start of the season and valuing his contributions beyond just goals and assists.
However, the Spanish coach admitted uncertainty about the winger’s long-term future at Vitality Stadium, acknowledging the realities of the transfer market. “I don’t want to lose him, definitely don’t want to lose him,” he stated, but conceded, “You never know what’s going to happen. I don’t know, I cannot control what’s going to happen.”
Semenyo, who has scored eight goals in 16 Premier League appearances this season, recently extended his contract until 2030 but reportedly has a £65 million release clause that becomes active in January, attracting significant interest from bigger clubs.
Iraola’s comments reflect a mix of admiration for his player’s attitude and pragmatic acceptance that external factors could force a departure.
The situation remains highly fluid as the window approaches, with Semenyo’s pace, power, and direct style making him one of January’s most coveted targets. Bournemouth brace for a potential exit but remain hopeful of retaining their star asset through the season if no clause is triggered early.
