Dr. Dickson Tsey, Principal of Amedzofe EP College of Education (AMECO), has issued a strong warning to newly matriculated students, advising them to steer clear of alcoholism, smoking, and betting.
These vices, he emphasized, can have a devastating impact on their academic journey and future aspirations.
Speaking at the 18th Matriculation Ceremony, where 315 students were officially inducted, Dr. Tsey reminded them that AMECO has a strict code of conduct that all students must adhere to.
He urged the students to embrace discipline, focus on their studies, and make wise life choices that would contribute to their overall success.
Dr. Tsey also encouraged the fresh students to develop a lifelong learning mindset, quoting Albert Einstein: “Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.” He emphasized the importance of seeking guidance when needed, urging the students to build positive relationships with lecturers, mentors, and fellow students for academic and personal growth.
Interestingly, this is not the first time AMECO has made headlines. In a recent development, the college admitted more female students than males for the first time in 75 years, with 113 females and 103 males participating in the 2022/23 matriculation ceremony.
As the students embark on their academic journey, Dr. Tsey’s words of wisdom serve as a reminder that education is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about transforming themselves and the world around them.
