Am scared of attack but will talk to my son if approached – Akua Antwiwaa

Ghana football have been blessed with lots of talents across the globe and some of them have naturalized to play for other countries while others either play for Ghana or are waiting to grab their chance .

While the likes of Jerome Boateng, Danny Welbeck, Memphis Depay and Mario Balotelli have played for other countries, the likes of Tariq Lamptey and Inaki Williams are undecided on which country to play their senior international football for.

Inaki, having played for Spain’s national junior teams, is yet to make his full debut for the senior side.
Fans of Ghana football and the football fraternity are hoping that he will play for the Black Stars sooner or later to help boost our chances of winning the prestigious African Nations Cup which has eluded the nation for more than thirty years.

The mother of the Athletic Bilbao Forward Madam Akua Antwiwaa, has claimed that the fear of being vilified and lampooned in Ghana are some of the reasons his son hasn’t played for the country.
Speaking in an interview on Sunyani based Moonlite FM, she claims a lot is said on the airwaves anytime there is a failed tournament by the Black Stars and this scares her a lot.

“I can’t take the insults and abuse Ghanaians give to their players after failed tournaments and games. It’s too much that parents of their players receive their own share of insults and abuses especially their mothers. Asamoah Gyan’s mum is a typical example”.

“As a mother I can’t take the insults and abuse while my son is playing his heart out for his country”.
Asked whether she will help Ghana speak to his son over BlackStars callup, Madam Akua says she will do her   best to convince his son to play for Ghana if the need be and his son’s love for the country is immeasurable.

“If the Ghana Football Association approaches me to help them, I will, despite the insults and abuse because Inaki recognises Ghana as his home country”

Inaki Williams has played over 170 games for his club since 2015 without injury, a feat that is rare in association football and has surprised many pundits and connoisseurs of the game but the mother believes it’s because of his diet.

“He likes eating Ghanaian food. His favorite is Fufu and groundnut soup, it gives him lots of energy. He likesWaakye and shito too”

Williams’ Athletic Bilbao recently beat Barcelona to claim the prestigious Supercopa de Espagne as their first silverware of the season.
