“Am disappointed in organisers of VGMA over Stonebouy , Shatta brawl”- Okyerefour

A seasoned radio presenter with the universal multimedia Limited (UML) group, operators of Ahotor FM(92.3) in Accra and Radio one(100.7) of the Eastern region, has reacted furiously to the near fisticuffs which ensued between Stonebouy and Shatta wale during the progression state of the 2018/19 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) held on Saturday (18/05/2019).

The duo acclaimed and accomplished dancehall cum reggae artistes and their team allmost marred the entire epic event after Stonebouy was alleged to have pulled a gun, pointed at Shatta wale over what eyewitness accounts bemoaned was a needless confrontation between the two musicians and their supporters which curtailed the music festival.

A pool of musicians, fanatics and music freaks who had thronged the Accra International Conference Centre( AICC) to catch a glimpse of the 20 years commemoration of the awards which was viewed via some popular international media platform such as; DSTV, averred they were highly taken aback, and disappointed over the brawl amidst serious and unpardonable security breaches.

Media reports however revealed that, calm was restored but the climax and colourful beauty of the event got neutralized and truncated by the destructive spectacle of the unfortunate incident on that eventful night.

Meanwhile, Speaking to the raging matter which has since received widespread condemnations both locally and internationally, as well as various social media handles. The host of AHOTOR FM afternoon drive programme, dubbed ” Ahotor Kwanso” Okyerefour unequivocally stated to news anchor Nana Dogbe during Sunday weekend news extra, that ” I am very dissatisfied and disappointed in the organisers of this years music awards , as well as the security infractions witnessed on the night, this I humbly suggest is extremely bizarre, and totally uncivilized to say the least Nana ! “

Stressing further, he alluded as ” for over 20 solid years of organising this awards ceremony, this is the first time a global Television platform like the DSTV is telecasting the event live for the viewing pleasure of people worldwide”

The entertainment critic and presenter similarly noted that, an acclaimed event organiser like Charter House ought to have exhibited high level of security conscientiousness due to the unending feud between Stonebouy and Shatta wale in recent times , and the dangers their actions could cause to public safety in the event of glitch of needless bravado on the day.

The radio host, again touched on the venue of the event and used the occasion to appealed to organisers to make room for bigger auditorium which can accommodate a sizeable number viewers, and music enthusiasts, since the over 1,600 sitting capacity at the AICC, have become overwhelmed by spectators who often throng the centre for shows and awards ceremonies.

He further posited and emphasized on the need for cool heads to prevail between both camps, and called on the security agencies, especially the police, to act with professional touch in order to resolve the issue using any available legal means to deter others from engaging in the same paradigm.

However, information gathered by AHOTOR news has it that, the two musicians and their team, have been invited by the greater Accra Regional Police command for questioning, and also to aid in investigations. The unfortunate situation has sparked debates over laws and modalities governing the acquisition of small arms by citizens in the country.
