Allegations of Financial Impropriety Rock National Signals Bureau: Former Head Under Fire

The allegations against Kwabena Adu Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), have raised concerns at the Presidency. Dr. Sammy Ayeh, Governance Spokesperson at the Presidency, has described the allegations as “worrying”.

According to Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, Adu Boahene diverted GHȼ49 million into his private account, instead of transferring the funds to the state. This allegation has been denied by Adu Boahene’s lawyers, who claim he has done nothing wrong.

The controversy surrounding Adu Boahene’s financial dealings began when he signed a contract with an Israeli company, RLC Holdings Limited, to purchase cyber defense software for $7 million in 2020.

However, an audit of the National Signals Bureau’s finances revealed that substantial amounts of money were transferred from the Bureau’s account to Adu Boahene’s private company, BNC Communications Bureau Limited, which he co-owns with his wife.

Dr. Ayeh emphasized that the expected protocol would have been for the money to be transferred directly into the NSB’s account.

The investigation into Adu Boahene’s financial dealings is ongoing, with the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) working to uncover the full extent of his alleged wrongdoing.
