Alan’s independent candidature can’t win him the 2024 presidential election – Owusu Adjebeng

The leading member of the New Patriotic Party Mr. John Alan Kyerematen resigned from the party to contest as an independent presidential candidate chance to win the 2024 elections is very slim. And looking at the entire internal party structure and all the executives’ positions in the party are all contested positions.

Mr. Alan’s position to just chicken out from the November 4th NPP presidential primaries race is a decision to protect his political image since he can see his defeat in the presidential primary contest. Mr. Owusu Adjebeng of Kumasi Technical University, and also a political observer, disclosed this at Adekyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor FM in Accra.

He opined that Mr. Alan’s concerns of mistrust, and how the party has been hijacked by unscrupulous people; above all for not being protected to follow the leadership line to lead the party was baseless. There is a need for Alan to respect the rules of the internal party democratic rules follow the rules and contest the primaries.

He further reiterated that his call to fellow party faithful of the NPP to vote for him as an independent presidential candidate going into the 2024 presidential elections and rally behind all the NPP members of parliament is very unfortunate. He should be reminded that he is no more a member of the New Patriotic Party and calling for a support base of the party to rally behind him cannot lead him to any victory.

The Executive Director, for Global Information Analytics, Musah Dankwah, said Mr. John Alan Kyerematen’s resignation is a huge political blow to the party going forward as a united front to break the eight. In his view looking at the recent and ongoing polls being carried out by the institution, it projected John Dramani Mahama on the lead, and now going forward with Alan’s independent candidature is likely going to eat into NPP supporting votes since his action has nothing to do with delegates rather voters; in effect can likely puts the National Democratic Congress candidate on the lead in the 2024 presidential elections.

He reiterated that going forward into the elections 2024, the dynamics have changed and Alan strategically tries to align with the youth who are in the majority to vote for him. He opined that by data the institution is working with the independent candidature of Alan can break the two fronts of NPP and NDC in losing votes, but the NPP will suffer the most this he said.
