The Akyem Swedru district police led by the district police commander; ASP. Philip Nketiah have clashed with the Royal family of Akyem Bosome at Akyem Swedru in the Birim South district of Eastern Region over what the police termed as unlawful installation of a new Akyem Bosome paramount chief since the police wasn’t informed.
Tension mounted at Akyem Swedru in the Birim South district this morning as the Akyem Swedru district police command clashes with the Royal family members of Akyem Bosome traditional area over a new paramount chief installation.
According to the police, there is a chieftaincy dispute over the old sitting paramount chief of Akyem Bosome traditional area which is pending in court therefore any of the Royal families shouldn’t install another chief or perform any public program which could spark confusion resulting to lost of lives and properties.
According to the Akyem Bosome queen mother; Nana Kwatemaa Menkyem II, the chieftaincy dispute has been in the area for over fifteen years and she wants the progress and development of the traditional area which has necessitated her and her family heads to install a new chief.
