Akufo Addo faced each defeat with dignity; losing an election is part of the process – Ibrahim Adjei tells NDC.

Ibrahim Adjei, the Assistant Secretary to the President of Ghana, emphasized the importance of handling electoral defeat with grace, noting that it is part of the political process.

In a recent media interview, Mr. Adjei highlighted that true leadership is demonstrated in how setbacks are managed, using President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as an example.

He praised President Akufo-Addo for accepting defeat with dignity during his several attempts at the presidency, including the aftermath of the 2012 Supreme Court ruling, where his statesmanship stood out.

Mr. Adjei pointed out that losing in primaries or general elections—whether due to external factors or not—should be viewed as part of the political journey.

He urged politicians to remain tenacious and persistent, learning from President Akufo-Addo’s perseverance in contesting four times before eventually becoming president.

He called on all political leaders to draw inspiration from Nana Addo’s political career and exhibit patience and resilience in their own pursuits.
