Akuapem North NDC coordinators petition party leadership over election fund disbursement

Ward and Zonal Coordinators of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akuapem North have petitioned the constituency leadership, demanding immediate transparency and action regarding the disbursement of funds for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The petitioners allege discrepancies in the allocation of funds meant for election activities. According to the coordinators, the National Executive Committee (NEC) allocated GH¢500 per branch, but certain zones within the constituency received considerably lower amounts than expected.

For example, the Akropong Zone allegedly received only GH¢5,000 instead of the allocated GH¢14,000, resulting in a GH¢9,000 shortfall.

Other zones, including Mamfe, Larteh, and Tutu-Obosomase, also reported similar discrepancies, with the total deficit amounting to GH¢25,500.

In addition to these financial concerns, the coordinators criticized the handling of feeding arrangements for party agents and other personnel during the election period.

They are calling on the constituency chairman and executives to ensure the shortfall is refunded to the branches by Friday, January 10, 2025.

The petitioners are urging swift action to address these issues, stressing the importance of accountability to prevent further escalation.

They believe that resolving the discrepancies and restoring trust within the constituency is crucial for maintaining party unity as they approach the upcoming electionss
