Akrofuom MP Urges NPP to Accept Supreme Court’s January 13 Ruling, Win or Lose

Akrofuom MP, Hon. Joseph Azumah, has urged the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to accept the Supreme Court’s ruling in good faith, ahead of the January 13, 2026, verdict on the Kpandai parliamentary election petition.

Hon Azumah’s comments come after the NPP celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to suspend the Kpandai election rerun, initially scheduled for December 30, 2025. The court granted an application by NPP candidate Matthew Nyindam, challenging the Tamale High Court’s annulment of the December 7, 2024, parliamentary election.

Speaking on the issue on Ahotor FM, he warned the NPP against selective acceptance of court rulings, citing their criticism of the Speaker of Parliament after declaring the Kpandai seat vacant. He emphasized that the NPP should respect the court’s decision, regardless of the outcome on January 13.

The Supreme Court has directed Nyindam’s legal team to serve court processes on the NDC candidate through substituted service.
