Ahotor FM Free Health Screening Records 222 Participants

The Universal Multimedia, operators of Ahotor FM 92.3, has organised a free health screening exercise as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at giving back to society and promoting the health and well-being of people within its operational area.

The exercise, which sought to encourage listeners and members of the public to prioritise their health, was held at the forecourt of Ahotor FM and attracted participants from Lashibi, Tema, and surrounding communities.

Health remains an essential component of individual and community well-being. As part of its commitment to giving back to society, Universal Multimedia partnered with Banahene Specialist Hospital to provide members of the public with access to basic health screening and professional medical support.

Banahene Specialist Hospital provided screening services covering general health and well-being, eye conditions, diabetes and blood sugar levels, hypertension and blood pressure, Hepatitis B, and liver-related conditions.

At the close of the exercise, a total of 222 people had undergone various forms of screening.

Out of this number, 89 participants underwent eye examinations, 46 were screened for hearing-related conditions, and 75 received general health and well-being assessments.

The exercise attracted people from both near and far, particularly residents within the Lashibi and Tema areas, who took advantage of the opportunity to assess their health and receive professional guidance.

Several organisations also supported the exercise, including Krispat Hearing Centre, EyeDan Eye Care Centre, and Yes Global Mission Paediatrics.

The exercise forms part of efforts to encourage the public to pay greater attention to preventive healthcare as a means of reducing illness and improving quality of life.

Preventive healthcare involves taking steps to prevent diseases, detect health problems early, and maintain overall well-being. These measures include regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, healthy eating, physical exercise, good hygiene, and avoiding harmful habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

The organisers therefore encouraged members of the public to make regular health checks an important part of their lives and to seek medical attention promptly whenever they experience symptoms or have concerns about their health.

The initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between media organisations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders in promoting health awareness and improving access to preventive healthcare within communities.
